As we come up to George’s birthday I feel incredibly compelled to share one of many memories. (I was at a loss for words when I received the news so I’m finally getting the nerve up now.) My 1st memory was when I directed my 1st reading at HBO for the Emmys. I was a nervous wreck (and not thrilled with the script they gave me) and George in his great wisdom and acute awareness asked Louisa Burns Bisogno to introduce us. And after brief introductions George assured me it was going to be fine. And afterwards I gave him the biggest hug. I went on to direct about 15 more readings and George tried to attend as many as possible. He always had a smile for me and it was like having an industry dad. And in fact when he met my father and I let them both know they each had a degree in physics they had great conversations. George truly lived every day with joy. He inspired me and gave me courage and made me see that I belonged in the industry. I will never forget him. Merci George <3

As a new resident to the Woodcrest Heights neighborhood in 2021, Georges walking his dog was a common sight. I remember us introducing ourselves when he was walking by my home, and we always greeted each other going forward. One day, I joined him on a full walk around the neighborhood. Our conversation was incredible. He allowed me to practice my rudimentary French with him with such patience! He was unbelievably kind and I was in awe when he talked me through some of the major moments in his life. He inspired me with how he embraced his curiosity to try so many different endeavors that I led him to such amazing places. He stressed the importance of trying new things and finding your passion. I immediately knew that this was a man of much compassion, knowledge, and integrity. It was apparent how well known and loved he was in our community. Even in the brief time that we were friends, he inspired me and I always looked forward to our next conversation. He was a lovely man. My thoughts are with his family. Georges was in a class all his own and I will dearly miss him.
