Obituary of Carmine Anthony Moliterno

Carmine Anthony Moliterno (1931 - 2012) Carmine (Mel) Moliterno, age 81, of Southbury, CT, formerly of New Rochelle, NY died on October 19, 2012. Mel was born on March 6, 1931 in Mt Vernon, NY, the son of the late Felice and Louise (Crocco) Moliterno. He attended high school at Evander Childs and upon graduating, Mel served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1951 - 1953 where his bravery and valor earned him many distinctive honors including: The Bronze Star, The Purple Heart, The Combat Infantry Badge, Wharang Distinguished Military Service Medal, and the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, to name a few. After returning home from the war, Mel married Evelyn (Iannuzzi) Moliterno of New Rochelle, NY on January 24, 1954 at Holy Family Church and joined REC Corporation as Vice President of Manufacturing. Evelyn and Mel settled in New Rochelle where they lived for 40 years. In 1987 he co-founded MJS Contracting Corp. with his son, Stephen and continued to be an integral member of the MJS team even after his unofficial retirement. Mel had a true love of life. He was a devoted NY sports fan, enjoyed boxing, and had a passion for music, singing, and dancing. Above all, Mel loved his family more than anything and lived for the time he spent with them. Mel leaves behind his beloved wife Evelyn, and children: Valerie (and Tony) Vanadia, Mindy (and Steve) Chanelli, Stephen (and Michele) Moliterno, in addition to his seven grandchildren: Jessica (and Kyle) McEvily, Noelle (and Rick) Spidalieri, Daniel, Gregory & Candace Chanelli, and Alyssa & Robert Moliterno, as well as one great-grandson, Ryan McEvily. He is also survived by his sister Phyllis (Moliterno) Gagliardi of Coral Springs, FL. Visiting hours will be Monday, October 22 from 2 - 8 pm at Fox Funeral Home, 2080 Boston Post Road, Larchmont, NY. A funeral mass is scheduled for Tuesday, October 23, at Holy Family Church, New Rochelle NY at (Pending).
