I grew up with Laurie,. She married my bro the year after I go married. We worked at Steak and Brew in Larchmont together in the late 1060's... that was a trip of a time we had so much fun. Her enthusiasm brought laughter to our family gatherings, party, dinner or just a visit. She loved to hear the news of the family and we always had so much to talk about. It's hard to think she is gone from this earth. I know she is in an amazing place of peace and tranquillity which brings me such great comfort. ❤️❤️ I love this photo of us. We went to Walter's for a impromptu hotdog in April of this year. We both hadn't been there in years!

A gentile soul with a forceful presence. Laurie was my bridge friend. You had to respect her playing ability. She was smart.
Yet, there was so much more to her. She had a gentle and kind manner that drew you to her.You could not help but like her. She was always concerned with what you were doing. Laurie was not concerned with herself. How are you? Tell me what you have been doing. Her soft outer shell obscured her strong inner soul. No one could doubt her love for Gregori and her family.
I am in awe of the strength and courage she exhibited during her illness. Never complaining, she battled like a champion
to the end.
I will miss her.

Anytime I knew I was to be around Laurie, good times were also in store. Her energetic personality was always something to look forward to at holidays and hangouts. I miss you very much, glad I got to spend as much time with you as I did. Never a dull moment at your house!! Love you Aunt Laurie.

My name is Danielle, I am Laurie's niece by marriage. One of my favorites, she holds a place in my heart that will never be filled. I love her dearly. Everyday, I close my eyes and find her voice. I never want to forget it. This is a photo of us (and some more favorites) outside a restaurant my husband and I used to own in Brooklyn, NY. What I would give to go back here. I love you Laurie, I miss you so.

Laurie was my friend since we met in second grade. We were both part of the “famous” car pool in High School. I was at her wedding and the weddings of Evan and Yvette. She adored her family and her girls. I was lucky to have her friendship and love for close to 70 years. She was an amazing lady, wife, mother, grandmother, sister-in-law and friend. She was very smart, very loving and always knew the best tv shows to watch, and unfortunately left us way too soon. Life is not the same without our Laurie.

Here is my remembrance of Laurie, my dear cherished friend. Since she passed, I have felt her absence strongly many times in different ways. She was a remarkable woman. I respected her enormously. Laurie was very smart. She had a great memory and math was her thing. Her prowess at crossword puzzles was known to me and my husband, who conferred with her over the Saturday puzzle. She was also a very good-and intuitive-bridge player. I never rose anywhere close to her level, but she was always happy to be my partner. What a friend! And she had a warmth that drew me and many others to her and made them want to be her friend. I always said that she had more friends than anyone I knew and there was a good reason for that. I invited her into my bridge group and she right away was asked to come back to play. She showed a sincere personal interest in others and they felt it. Laurie was the best listener I’ve ever known. If I was talking about some interest or issue of mine, she never turned the conversation around to herself. She was never selfish about her friends; she introduced them to each other and they became good friends too. I can vouch for that. Another great part of Laurie’s personality that I observed was her edge. She could be pretty hard nosed when she had good reason, if she felt a friend (e.g. me) was being unfairly criticized, she would stand up for that friend in no uncertain terms. Laurie had a strong backbone.
Laurie loved life. I never found a partner to dance rock n roll with that was more fun than Laurie. I will miss that so much. She loved planning outings with her girlfriends and was always game for a new art exhibit, show or ballet.Another loss. We oohed and aahed over Nadal, “our boy,” when he was playing (for someone who didn’t play tennis, she loved watching the slams (formerly with Evan at the Slams). Miss that. She was an avid reader who brought me into her book group. Another loss. Even when she was sick and going through treatment, she was such a support to me when we would complain about wait times at Sloan for her and my husband who was also undergoing treatment. But through her life during the time I knew her, she never complained about or raised her own health issues. She was amazingly brave.
When I turned 70, five years ago, she gave me a large crystal heart paperweight that I have kept on my desk ever since. I never told her that. So I took a photo of it and showed it to her, at the end, and hoped that she could see what a dear and cherished friend she had been and would still be to me. Also at the end, her generosity of spirit and love of friends shone brightly. She asked me to take some funds from Gregori for a birthday present for a close friend who was turning 75 the next December. I was amazed she had the presence of mind to think of that. But that was Laurie.
Laurie was a role model for living life large despite health setbacks. She had a wonderful family, many many close adoring friends. It’s certainly a life that I will miss, and it’s a certainly a life to celebrate. Love, Elizabeth (that’s what Laurie always called me…not by my nickname).

I was so sorry to learn of Laurie's passing. She was such a lovely person, whom I'd known off and on over the years since we were kids. Our mothers knew each other, and I believe they somehow agreed that it was okay we both be named Lauren. My late brother Kevin and Gregori were the closest of friends, and through their relationship I had the good fortune to know Gregori and Laurie and their family. My condolences and love to all of you.

Laurie was a wonderful person. I cut her hair over some years. And she often shared all her loving stories she had with her family. She was beautiful inside and out. I wish I got to say goodbye. May she rest in peace and her family always keep her best days close in their heart ❤️

A beautiful testament to a truly beautiful woman. I was fortunate to be part of two of Laurie’s circle of friends:Bridge group and Book group. She was always our “go to” person in Bridge as we all knew she had the answers. We often discussed the books we were reading with Laurie having insightful comments which enriched our reading experience. A few years back Laurie and I began our birthday lunch together having discovered our birthdays were just days apart. It was our little ritual which I truly enjoyed and will surely miss. She was such a kind thoughtful and generous soul. And let’s not forget her sweet laugh. It was an honor to have her as my friend. I join so many others who already miss her.

This was a wonderful tribute to such beautiful person. Laurie was part of the family Buffie and I chose as friends and what a great friend she was. She was a lovely soul and we were blessed with sharing some of her over the top, perfectly planed vacations and lavish Christmas parties. I so enjoyed Laurie’s political points of view when we spent hours discussing them on the phone. She really knew how to dish it out, better yet, she was a great listener even when we would disagree and that was frequently. She was a bright star that everyone in our circle loved, respected and admired. So sweet and yet so strong. We will miss immensely, that twinkle in her eyes, that beautiful smile and her pearls of wisdom. Xoxo Buffie and Ray Tartaglione

Any memory I have of Laurie includes my brother, of course.
I first met Laurie on the beach at the Shore Club, where Nora O’Keefe sneaked me in. As we were walking along the beach we stopped to say hello to someone Nora knew. She introduced me to Laurie Prendergast who said, “Oh! You’re Gregori’s sister! I just met him the other day, he’s cute!” Dragging that last word out like she really meant it. It was then that I knew she would soon be my brother’s girlfriend, being too young at the time to think “wife”.
I miss you, Laurie
