Dear Plesent Family, Please, find this short note expressing my sincere heartfelt sorrow and gratitude regarding Stanley's passing and the wonderful memories with working with him and Ms. J. Weiss. I was at Squadron et al working with Lance, Ike Sorkin, Larry Byrne and I was well aware of Stanley's noteworthy legal skills, philanthropy and military experience, I had talked with Stanley a couple of times on 5th Ave., plus I was in the Army, then (Reserves). I was in awe of Stanley (and I knew other heavy hitter lawyers, I had a JD myself, I married into a family of big league politicians) his military awards, his great genuine people skills and I hoped for an opportunity to work with him. Well it happened and I knew I was so fortunate to work with such an all around special guy from the greatest generation. Quick story; so my Army buddies came back from an early Iraqi war mission and they had shared some Saddam pictured currency. I knew Stanley would appreciate this, he was US Army family but I felt a bit out of place approaching such a hero with this token. Anyway, one day I take a chance, plus I think I had to give him some memorandum or net worth statements of a matrimonial matter we were working on. Next, I take out the token and it was like we were in Army in the same unit just a bunch of soldiers together he was moved that I had this token for him but he didn't want to take it outright. Continuing, he had his collection of military movies and he said take one and enjoy. Moreover, Stanley, knew how to show that he cared because he did care and he knew how to build people up. I will never forget Stanley Plesent and the wonderful memories with working with such a renowned NYC lawyer who also embraced humility, striving for excellence, philanthropy and caring for your fellow man ( and I mean all of us). Furthermore, I hope I am not too bold or out of line with sharing my thoughts and anecdote. Thank you for the opportunity to express myself. Godspeed!

On behalf of the entire Squadron family, I send our most heartfelt condolences to Gloria, Leslie, Nora and all the Plesents. Stanley and Howard, my late husband, met when they were both undergraduates at City College. They formed a strong affectionate bond of friendship, and in 1970 they established a law partnership. Stanley became a prominent matrimonial attorney as well as working in other areas. He was also very active in non-legal activities and contributed enormously to the cultural life of New York City. In everything he did, he could invariably be counted on to be upbeat, loyal, supportive, understanding and kind. Stanley always enjoyed observing certain formalities with great flourish. One of the rituals involving Howard was that Stanley called him every New Year’s Eve to wish him Happy New Year. It was the highlight of the holiday for Howard. After Howard was no longer able to participate in these calls, Stanley continued to call me. It was a compassionate gesture and was emblematic of who Stanley was. He will be greatly missed.

Stanley Plesent contributed to my professional progress. His kindness and support went beyond the walls of New York to that of the continent of Africa—a non-profit organization I founded for less fortunate women. He is the true meaning of what it means to be genuine and honest. Georgiana Abisordun Johnson

Today, January 29th, for no more reason than a gnawing sense of curiosity, I googled Stanley Plesent's name, To my surprise and dismay I found he had passed away on the 27th. From November 1, 1970 for close to twenty years, Stanley and I were partners in the practice of law. To me he was an ideal partner since aside from being astute in the law he was trustworthy, honest and ethical. I offer my sincere condolences to Stanley's surviving family members, with my special wishes to his wife Gloria.
Sadly,
Stanley I Lehrer

Burt and I send our sincere condolences to the Plesent family during this sad time. Stanley, who had both distinguished military and legal careers, was a wonderful comrade and advisor to Burt when Burt was commander of the VFW 1156. Burt looked to Stanley for his wise counsel and was so grateful that Stanley was always available to him during those ten years. We will miss him!
