Jean Heller

Obituary of Jean N. Heller

Jean N. Heller died on Saturday January 1, 2022 at the age of 99.

She is predeceased by her husband, Richard Heller, Esq., and her parents Paula (Chase) & Samuel Nathan.

She is survived by the following:

Her three children:  Bette Heller of Centennial, CO; Nancy Heller & Evan Krichevsky of Potomac, MD; and Paul & Katharine (Burdsall) Heller of Pound Ridge, NY;  and

Her four grandchildren: Aliza (Krichevsky) & Michal Morris of Germantown, MD; Jared Krichevsky of Pasadena, MD; Kyle Heller of Pound Ridge, NY; and Melanie Heller of Pound Ridge, NY.

Jean was a strong, independent woman with a pioneering spirit in an era when women did not have a career, and in a field where women were rare and often discriminated against.

She received her B.A. in Accounting from Hunter College, and Masters in Economics from Columbia University.   She worked for an accounting firm for a short time, and then became an instructor of Accounting and Auditing at Hunter College, and a public accountant.

She was proud that during college summers, she was the Head Waterfront counselor at a camp in Massachusetts.

She met her husband, Richard Heller, in 1947 on a Ski Club trip, and they married in January 1949.  After becoming pregnant with her first child, she left her teaching job and opened her own Accounting practice from home and later became an Investment Advisor.

Jean and Richard were founding members of Larchmont Temple and members of Quaker Ridge Golf Club.  They enjoyed skiing in the winter and tennis in the summer.  But what Jean enjoyed the most was spending the summer at their house on Lake Raponda in Wilmington, Vermont.

Funeral by livestream only from Larchmont Temple at 1pm on Tuesday January 4, 2022.
