Louise was responsible for taking me to the air and showing me how to fly. Her spirit was irrepressible. I loved her inquisitive mind and willingness to do hard things. She was not phased by road blocks but surmounted incredible odds. Though I only knew her for a short time she left a strong mark on me, namely the confidence to go out into the world and try things without knowing what the outcome will be. I am so happy for her that she made a family and wish them peace.

So sadden to hear … Louise was always a delight to be around. Her smile was radiant and infectious. She inspired me to be better at the clarinet in school band. Though it’s been too many years since we’ve seen one another, I am right back at the moments I remember when she touched my life in our childhood. You will be remembered greatly for all the souls touched. Miss you Louise

There will never be another Louise Gillette. She had such an impact on my life in the late `90s and throughout the `00s, teaching me about art-making, and physical training, and the city of Philadelphia, and independence, and struggle. My husband Greg and I performed in some of her Fringe shows at 222 Market, and I always think about that when I walk by there. I wish that her artistic career, and our friendship, could have gone on for many more decades, but for now I'll treasure the memories I have. She gave the very best hugs.

Louise was a force to be reckoned with. An artist, foremost. Her work was good and rich and deep and she cared about it fiercely. And she was playful and thoughtful and funny and charming. And challenging. I am grateful for the time we spent together.

Condolences to the Gillette family. It’s been many moons since Louise and I went to school together in Larchmont but I remember her as this incredibly gifted person who excellent in music and dance and drove others (like me) to try and do a little better. Rest In Peace Louise.

Rest in peace seems wrong to say, I remember Louise as always toe tapping, moving, music everywhere! May her soul find true happiness and my deepest condolences to Louise’s close family. You were all in the presence of a truly great human. I am sure she appreciated all of you. I will miss knowing that she is out there making more beautiful art in the world.

I met Louise when I was 6. That first encounter isn’t in my mind because, I can scarcely remember a time when I didn’t know the five of them.
Those baby grands will roam in my mind until my end. Nedra and Peter sitting at each and playing to the lucky of us who were witness as the three sisters jumped in with various instruments and talents.
I told Louise, a couple of brief months ago, of one of my favorite memories was when she would create scavenger hunts, for Becky and me, that had us traversing that big house and that wonderful property for hours. We never knew when she would gift us these magical (and I can only assume extremely time consuming to prepare) events, but when they were revealed, it was better than Christmas.
There were a few other memories, I didn’t get to share but Becky did, of the soap opera on cassette tape we created called ‘Autumn Days.’ None of us watched soap operas. I’m still perplexed how we came up with it. Louise was creative brain the hand that penned and directed them and I’m pretty certain that injected me with the surge to perform.
Louise, and the other four Gillette’s played an enormous role in the creative life I pursued and I am so grateful for the love they shared whenever I was there (which was all the time).
My heart breaks for the loss of Peter and Louise in less than the span of a full year, but my memories are so filled with love and wonderment that I would never trade for knowing any of these five amazing people who were a huge part of my childhood.
I am so glad I was able to meet Chip, with Louise, and experience the energy between them. Honestly a love story that people wouldn’t believe if it were made into a film.
My love to all of you, who remain in the wake of this pain, is boundless. I will continue to run the movie reel in my mind of those days with Louise, Peter, Nedra, Annie and my soulmate Becky until I am also no more.
May Louise Rest In Peace and may we all live with the knowledge that life is brief. Love more. Always love more.
Love, Colleen Quinlan Styer

I remember Louise as a teen when we attended the same schools in Larchmont and the same dance classes. She was full of grace, energy and kindness. I marvel at the creative life that she led and am sad that her light has gone out, too soon.

It was a pleasure knowing Louse for the last few years. Even with her ongoing battles with her health she was a joy to be around. Thanks for sharing the obituary - there were things in her life story I didn't know about. Such a talented and impressive person.

Louise was the first friend I made when I moved to Philadelphia in 1995. We were both looking for roommates and we went to a Rusted Root concert to make sure we could stand each other. She made me dance by sheer osmosis of enthusiasm. Being roommates with Louise was a riot. She had such a flair for fun and she was always coming up with silly and clever adventures. I took her to my employer's holiday party - a formal, corporate affair - and we entered loudly, sliding down the banisters into the ballroom. At Christmas time we went around Philly picking up loose branches of other people's trees from the sidewalk, and used them to assemble our own little makeshift Christmas shrub. There was always music and dance around her. I'll never forget my friend Louise.

We knew Louise since she was a toddler and have been amazed all these years at how bravely she fought against this disease.
She did so much research and was her own best advoccate in this fight, along with her parents. I remember seeing her perform beautifully at our local theater in Mamaroneck NY long ago, and later in Phillie, A true free spirit....Bill & Jill Caslin
