My parents Muriel and Chauncey Haviland were very close friends and neighbors of the Gordons in Larchmont. Throughout the 80’s and 90’s Eleanor and Carl were a happy fixture in my parents lives, sharing dinners and family celebrations. With Eleanor’s contagious laugh and kind, astute manner of looking at life, she was the perfect complement to her husband Carl, with his dry wit and ever present cigar. Eleanor and Carl even blessed my wife Debbie and me by attending our wedding in Cold Spring in 1987. So many wonderful memories come to mind, so many smiles and so much laughter appears when any of my siblings recall the wonderful people that Eleanor and Carl Gordon were. Both to their own children and to anyone whose lives they touched. I can imagine Eleanor and Carl sitting up in Heaven with Muriel and Chauncey having sooo much fun rooting for the rest of us still down here! Eleanor we will miss you and Carl always. You guys truly lived!! David Haviland

I was so sorry to hear of Eleanor Gordon's passing, (just received the bad news belatedly here in Florida). Ellie was truly one of the great ladies of Larchmont, a smart and often hilarious matriarch, not just to her own family, but to so many of us locals. I have countless memories at the Gordon house on Forest Park, including the annual Easter breakfast that usually included quite an assortment of characters - human and feline! Banshee, Balzac, Swamp(o)? & Iree are just a few of Eleanor's cats that I seem to recall...
There is of course a silver lining to her passing, Eleanor is now reunited with Carl J, a great man who died far too soon.
My condolences to the Gordon family,
-Jimmy Moran

Our company events were made special by Mrs Gordon "Ellie" . Her charm, witt and laughter was contagious. No matter what..even if the event wa slow, she would make a comment and made us laugh so hard . Our events at Gordon Group will never be the same . Every time someone brings up her name , smiles come to our face and everyone has a wonderful story to share .
-Heaven is lucky to have you there -

Eleanor welcomed me the first time I visited like I was family. She was a loving mom and shared that love with all who entered her home. Nothing ever seemed to phase her and she just kept laughing at our silly adolescent adventures. I can hear her now saying “oh Matthew “. What a joy she was! Love you mrs Gordon!

The Gordon family (six kids and five cats) lived next door to us in Larchmont for almost 20 years. How lucky we were.
Ellie's exuberant laugh, her love of her garden, especially the trees and of course her pot roast are remembered.
She was a kind and fun-loving night owl who has been in our hearts since 1979 and has been missed.
Rest in Peace Ellie.
