Obituary of Matthew Howard Fish
Matthew “Matt” Fish passed away peacefully on November 28, 2021, at the age of 49, surrounded by his loving family. His battle with cancer was met with unwavering courage, facing each challenge with the deepest of dedication, resilience, and unmatched positivity. Matt’s difficult journey has inspired those around him and we feel the deepest loss with his life ending far too soon.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Diana. He is survived by his wife Amy, his three children, Brody, Sarah and Emily, his father, Stanley, his brother David, his sister-in-law Jennifer, her husband Howard, and his nieces, nephews and cousins.
Matt was born in New York City and grew up in Whitestone, Queens. He attended the Bronx School of Science where he played baseball and then the University of Albany where he was a member of the Tau Epsilon Phi fraternity. After meeting the love of his life, Amy, in college, he had a very successful career in finance. Matt’s savvy financial mind only reflected one part of his life. Mostly he was dedicated to his love for his wife and his children.
Matt made his mark in Larchmont where he and Amy raised their children. He embraced the community, coached youth sports teams, and could always be depended upon by his friends and neighbors both in times of need and joy. Matt’s undeniable zest for life was reflected everywhere he went, leaving this world a warmer and happier place.
You always could spot Matt from far away with his infectious smile and sparkling eyes, embracing you before you even arrived at his side. His priority in life was always clear: family came first. His love for his wife and children meant he never missed a game or birthday party until the end, despite a full career and managing his illness. Matt’s dearest friends were made to feel like family, so Matt’s family net has been cast wide and deep.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday December 1st at 10:30am at the Larchmont Temple. Shiva will be announced shortly. A GoFundMe is being established to help with educational expenses for the children.
