I have the most wonderful memories of my dear Aunt Sally, who was such a good influence on me when I was a young boy. She was then the wife of my mother's brother Irving Shabot, and I stayed with them for weeks at a time in Bradley Beach, N.J. and White Plains, N.Y. when I was seven and eight years old. Sally was an immense educational experience for me, helping me with my reading and opening up vistas for me into the differences between American and British English, but above all Sally was a delightful presence with her laughter, charm, sense of humor.and generous kindness. The whole Shabot family loved Sally so much, and this is exemplified by a story my mother told me: When Grandma Shabot learned that Sally and Irving were getting divorced, she told Sally, "You will always be our daughter." She will always be my aunt. After a silence of some 60 years I became so aware of how important Sally had been to me that I found her address in Larchmont, N.Y. and wrote to her, telling her. Bless her, she answered me, and I treasure her letter. My sincere sympathy to Glynne, Jacqueline, Cathy and all the rest of the family.

I never knew Ms.Sally Weinraub but after reading her obituary in The New York Times was inspired by the entry to honor her life by coming to this site. She truly led a life of purpose, of honor, of love. May the memory of Sally Weinraub be an inspiration to all to knew her and all who know her now. May the mourners be comforted by all of Israel and Zion and may you celebrate simchas in the future.

My sincere condolences to the family. I first met Sally when I visited shortly after graduating from Wisconsin, with Jackie. Sally was preparing a wonderful meal in the Sephardic tradition. It was food I had never eater before. I especially remember preparing stuffed zucchini with a filling that included fresh mint. I helped scoop out the insides. The dinner was truly delicious as you can tell since it was over 50 years ago and is so well remembered. Whenever I saw Sally, I was impressed with her lively spirit and strong intellect. She will be greatly missed.
