Stephanie was, as they say, a great lady! Her faithfulness to her parish of St. Augustine was long and authentic. The loss was felt when she ceased being a lector---such a deep understanding of the scriptures she had. Her presence will be missed!
Mar a bhí grá againn duit, Stephanie!

I just learned today about the passing of Stephanie. Stephanie was a dear friend to my mother, Bea Victory, and she was at my mother's bedside until the day before she died, bringing her communion. I will never forget that. They shared a special friendship and learned together through the years the beauty in living a clean and simple life through their fellowship program. Your mom always had a smile on her face and brought the same smile and humor to my mother until the moment she passed away. She was a beautiful woman, inside and out, and I know her and Bea are sharing some wonderful memories and laughs together as I write this. My sincere condolences to all of the O'Keefes. When Stephanie visited South Florida just a few years ago it was just the best, having her stay with us. She was up for anything as long as we made it to meetings frequently and we did.
One of our outings was to to a horse farm and the white horse pictured with her was mesmerized by Stephanie.
She followed Stephanie, right on her heels. That can be an intimidating experience. Stephanie was unflappable.
I am so grateful for the many years I have known Stephanie.
She was kind, understanding, gentle and trustworthy. Not to mention her killer sense of humor. We shared many laughs and some tears. I wanted what Stephanie had and she generously led me step by step. I stumbled here and there and Stephanie was always there to prop me up. I will love Stephanie forever. Rest in peace, beautiful blue eyed wonder.

I served as a Eucharistic Minister with Stephanie at St. Augustine's Church. Stephanie was among those who showed me the ropes. She was always so lovely to me. She never missed her liturgical assignments, read the scriptures beautifully and she was always impeccably dressed and accessorized. I definitely admired her for these things, but mostly for her devotion to her faith and how much she loved God. I will miss seeing Stephanie and her smile at mass as well as our parish events - like the Holly Party and Irish Fleadh. My sympathies to Stephanie's family. I lost my mother last year at 90, and even though we know they have lived a good long life, it is still very hard to lose your mom. God love and bless the O'Keefe family.

Thank you, Joan. My mom loved St. Augustine's and took her assignments there very seriously. We had to schedule family occasions around the church calendar on more than one occasion so she could fulfill her commitments. We appreciate you taking the time to write. Ann O'Keefe

I keep re-writing this because it is so hard to select one memory to share.
I'm so sad right this moment but I can't help grinning because for some reason, I keep hearing her tell me about her birthday party: she, Joan and Ann together - "Like the Mad Hatter's Tea Party" she called it. I couldn't be in NY for it but hearing all about it from her was a great joy.

It’s all pretty simple for me: I met Stephanie early on in my recovery. Maybe because she is my mom’s age, maybe because she had serenity, maybe because she represented one of the last generation among us who actually knew Bill, but she and I became friends enough to kid each other when we were together and it eased my path. Bless you and all your family who knew you sober, Stephanie.

I was fortunate to grow up across from the O'Keefe family in Larchmont. She was like a second mother to me. Too many meals, sleep overs and trips to Jones Beach to count. After returning back to Larchmont from living down south, she would bring my dad communion at his house when he was too ill to attend mass, and continued bringing him communion when he was moved to the Kensington in White Plains. That kindness meant the world to my father and my siblings. To the O'Keefe family, I offer my sincere condolences. She lived a great life.
