Obituary of Eleanor D. Humes

Eleanor Humes of New Rochelle, NY was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She passed away peacefully in her home on March 18, 2020 at 97 years old. She was born to Don A. and Vince Summo in New Rochelle, NY. She is proceeded in death by her husband, Edward Humes, whom she was married to for 54 years. She is survived by her two loving daughters, Doris Anderson and Diane O’Laughlin (Kevin), her sister Joyce Stackpole, and her 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Her greatest enjoyment was found in time spent with her family. She loved spending summers in Cape Cod and visiting family during the holidays. She also enjoyed reading, cooking, and listening to music, especially Frank Sinatra. You can shed tears that she is gone or you can smile because she has lived. You can close your eyes and pray that she will come back, or you can open your eyes and realize all she has done throughout her life. Your heart can be empty because you can’t see her, or you can feel her presence in everything you do. You can ignore tomorrow in sorrow, or you can be happy today thinking about yesterday. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
