Obituary of Raymond M. Gannon, Jr. Raymond Matthew Gannon, Jr, loving husband of Susan Lynch Gannon of 36 years and devoted father of Merrill Elizabeth Gannon of Larchmont, passed away suddenly on January 23, 2020 at his home in Larchmont, New York. He was 68 years old. In addition to his wife and daughter, he is survived by his father, Raymond Matthew Gannon, Sr. of Pawtucket, RI. He also has a sister Helen Ann Gannon and her wife Susan LaPorte of Springfield, MA and a brother Patrick J. Gannon, his wife Carol of Narragansett, RI and their children Christine and Fred Prescott, Jacqueline Gannon and Sean Gannon. Other loving members of his family include brother-in-laws, Peter E. Lynch (deceased) and his wife Kathryn P. Lynch, and her daughter Kelley and Edouard Moueix. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Robert S. Lynch and his children Julie Barry, Katie and Jim Mamos, Saxton and Brittany Lynch and many cousins and friends. Ray grew up in Pawtucket, RI in an Irish storytelling family which included 32 first cousins. After graduating from St. Raphael’s Academy, he went on to earn a BA in History from University of Rhode Island and M.Ed in Special Needs from Rhode Island College. He began an early career in education at Meeting Street School. In 1983, he left RI for Englewood, NJ to be with his future bride. Ray spent the past thirty years in health insurance and related fields including consulting and worked in senior management positions with large health care companies. His key strengths were marketing, business development, strategy and leading early stage enterprises. Mission-driven, Ray often served vulnerable populations. As Head of Operations at Kaden Health, he contributed to fighting opioid addiction. Ray had a wide professional network that he treasured. He led with humor and unfailing integrity and mentored many with his humble and wise nature. He had a quick wit and was knowledgeable about many subjects. On the morning before he died, he was taking a Sanskrit course at the School of Practical Philosophy prior to his work day. His interests were many and varied and friendship with Ray was for life. He enjoyed golfing and loved looking out at the water and sailing with friends at Larchmont Yacht Club. He liked basketball especially the Providence Friars and going to the Annual Big East Tournament became an annual tradition. He was a lifelong Red Sox Fan and attended games at Fenway Park. Ray was a Moderator and Chair of Nominations for the Scarsdale Congregational Church and was on the Consumer Advisory Board (CAB) for Willowbrook Class Members. He was admired for his thoughtful, gentle, and calm service. Ray was well-loved by his colleagues, his friends and most of all by his family. He lived his life fully and will be greatly missed.
