To the Gannon and Gunning clans--As a in-law on the Gunning side I didn't get to know Raymond especially well. But every encounter sparked great conversation and humor. At one Keiser sister's wedding, we were all walking toward the tent for the service when it suddenly started to rain. A women in front of us opened a big bubble umbrella--we both started singing "Georgie Girl" at the exact same second.....
Warm thoughts to all in what is a very tough time.

Sugar Ray, Rasta Mon, Rai-nman - we had lots of nicknames for Ray; all affectionate. So, I was blown away when Billy McIvor called me to share the tough news of Ray's passing. In my early days in NYC (early 1990's), it was Ray who made me feel like Boston Red Sox fans had friends in New York (which, by the way, may not have been totally true). Anyway, Ray would take Bill (McIvor), John (McGovern) and me on many story-trips through the heart & soul of Fever Pitch country and the tales were amazing. But his mind was far from linear as Bill, Ray and I would often bounce work-related ideas off of one another and Ray's "bounces" were always the furthest; sometimes on target and sometimes down the magical mental path of the Rai-nman. You all know what I am talking about -LOL. My relationship with Ray was like two budds from the old neighborhood - years could pass between meetings, but we always picked-up where we left off. ONE LOVE, says the Rasta Mon. Miss you Bro, Sach

I met Ray when he was my client at Emblem Health. In short order, we came to appreciate each other in ways that transcended business. Our work together led to a friendship that included our spouses and which blossomed into a rich relationship that contributed to all of our lives. Ray always wore a twinkle in his eye. He had a sparking sense of humor and, yet, could be serious and purposeful in conversation. He endowed a sense of life and love into everything he touched. Our time together was always joyful. Ray Gannon was the Heart Man.

To the Gannon family. The Randall family would like to express our sincere sympathy. We are sorry for your loss. Raymond will always be remembered as a great person and a credit to his community. We will never forget his humor and his friendship and respect toward us. Jared and I (Ted) along with my wife, Laurie, will never forget Ray and his optimistic qualities. Even the short time we spend together in these later years, when we met we went right back to our formative years where you could tell Ray would become a great person and a credit to his family. Your family will be in our prayers and we will think of Raymond often. Sincerely,
Ted and Laurie Randall

I feel such shock, sadness and hurt for all of Ray’s family, friends and workmates who have loved him and have been part of his life’s journey. However long or short or close the journey any of us had with him, Ray was influential, impactful and left footprints that will not be forgotten.
I haven’t seen Ray for many years but he has been such a compass in my life that started way back when. In the mid 1970’s we worked together in one of the first group homes for intellectually disabled folks in southern Rhode Island, Kenyon Ave. I was thrown into the deep end but I didn’t flounder for long. Ray’s patience, kindness, understanding and humour for the people we cared for showed me the way forward.
And now many years later, the foundation and mentoring he gave me have so influenced my career of working with people impacted by disability, dementia, mental health challenges and social injustice.
Ray was a true blue person; funny, laid back, forthright and all class. I will never forget him and his influence in my life.
And I send to you all who have loved him dearly, for what it is worth, my condolences. I read somewhere that loss is only made endurable through love......and I hope you have found this with each other.

Ray was a big influence during my teen years. Moving from Texas to Seekonk, MA could have been a stressful transition but I lucked into having the Gannon's as my second family along with Bob Gauvin. Ray was 2 years older than Pat, Bob and myself yet he always treated us as equals. Quite an honor at that age. I was suprised to find he was only 2 years older than us as I thought it was more like 10. He imparted much political knowledge to meas well as humor and friendship, and brought the injustice of the Vietnam conflict into my world. I was a track runner at Seekonk High and Ray had told me he would come to a meet we were having against St Rays. Didn’t really think he could make it as he was a college student. Ray attended the meet and to my relief I had a good day. My own parents seldom made my meets bc of a young child at home and work. It meant the world to me that he was there. I hadn’t seen Ray in probably 25 years and marveled his picture—it’s just as I remember him. He was an incredible man who I’m sure will have plenty of goodness, humor and love to spread in the afterlife!.
God bless to the Gannon family. I am so sorry for your loss. Thank you for letting me into your living family. .

Ray was one of the finest men I have ever known! Always full or great cheer and and a person you always, always enjoyed being with under any circumstance. He and his wife Susie were so kind to make the trip from Larchmont to Pittsburgh less than two months ago to attend services for my wife of 35 years after she lost her battle with cancer. As Ray would always say when he parted with me, see you soon, my brother. Right back at you Ray! You are so missed by so many!
Love to you and Susie always,
Ted

Ray was the rock with Kaden Health the company he started with me, Steve Kessler and Aran Ron. As always, Ray was committed to the important things in life and was instrumental with starting a company that helps people get medical and therapy service for opioid addiction. I first met Ray while at GHI which then merged into Emblem Health. I was immediately impressed with his work ethic, hard work and ability to connect with people in a human way.. Through the years I have had the pleasure of meeting and working with Ray. Above all he was kind and so proud of his wonderful family. I will miss him dearly. I am so sorry for your loss. Regards

Ray was my mentor, friend and someone who I looked up to for his passion, excitement and enthusiasm. I have so many stories but I will add the one where Ray took me to a Providence Basketball Game - we met downtown with his brother at of course a traditional Irish Bar - had a beer and headed to the arena. As we walked in and grabbed our seats - he was like the Mayor - everyone saying hi to Ray with big smiles to see him at the game. He was loved by so many and respected by his colleagues. His network of who he touched is wide and we all of a bit of Ray in us and he will forever be in my heart. Love you Ray. RIP. My sincere condolences out to Susan, Merrill and the whole family.

I don't even know where to start. Susan, Merrill and the entire Gannon family. Janet and I are so sorry for your loss.Ray and I go back to the Grist Mill pool as youngsters and have maintained a great friendship. He was a very good man!!! We will not be able to join you as we are leaving on a trip Wednesday but believe me we will be thinking of you. I will be joining my daughters and John Fitzgerald at the Friars game this afternoon and we will be thinking of Ray. We know that Ray and his old friend Friar (the dog) will be looking down and rooting right along with us. God speed my friend and to his family remember 'tears fade but memories never do"

A kinder, gentler, funnier, more caring fellow you will not meet. Little Rhody has lost one of its finest, proudest and most eruditely informed sons. I never met Ray’s family back in Pawtucket but through his gifts as a tale teller I feel I know them well and cannot begin to adequately express my condolences to you all, especially Ray, Sr. RIP Ray.

I spent a day with Ray at his "heave on earth" boat club. He was joyous and thrilled to share the lovely place with me. It was lovely and memorable and a joy to see someone so in their element. A great loss to all those who were lucky enough to work with him.
