Obituary of Lee H. Bloom

Lee H. Bloom, Past Town of Mamaroneck Councilman and long time Resident of Larchmont passed away peacefully on December 12, 2011 at the age of 92. Born in NYC to Harry and Harriet Bloom. He attended school in New Rochelle and graduated MIT in 1940. He entered the US Navy after one year of Harvard Law School and served as a Lieutenant Commander until 1945. He married his beloved wife Mary Louise in the Philadelphia Naval Yard, and went back and finished his law degree at Harvard. He then started a 36 year career with Lever Brothers Company as an executive. He moved his family to Larchmont in 1951. Lee served his community as councilman for over 16 years. He was also involved with many community and charitable boards. His interests included UNICEF, United Nations Association and the Sheldrake Environmental Center among many others. He was a man who gave far more than his share. He was pre deceased by his wife in 2005 and is survived by his three children, Daniel (wife Sherri, Sons Joel and Josh), Louise Abel (husband Irving), and Douglas. Lee is also survived by his special lady Alice LaSala. In lieu of flowers donations to UNICEF, United Nations Association or the Sheldrake Environmental Center would be appreciated. School and Business Alliance for 6 years in Yonkers, NY. Joined Larchmont-Mamaroneck Chapter of AAUN in 1957, President of chapter 1962-1963. Board member since 1962 - either as elected director or as appointed as regional representative.
