Obituary of Matias Iacono

Matias Justin Iacono, beloved son, brother, and uncle, passed away on April 12, 2024, at the age of 38 in White Plains, New York. Matias, known affectionately as Tuchi, was born on January 25, 1986, in New York.

Matias was a loving brother, son, and friend with a huge heart. He loved to spend time with his family and took pride in his role as an uncle to his nephews and niece. Matias had a great sense of humor and knew how to poke fun at himself and others. He was a pillar of strength and an example of resilience for all of us. Tuchi endured more hardships in 38 years than most do in their lifetime. He was diagnosed with a mental illness in adolescence and suffered a severe stroke at the age of 35. Regardless of how difficult life became, Matias fought with every fiber of his being and did it with a smile on his face. He taught all of us the importance of acceptance, empathy and gratitude. He is loved beyond words and will be remembered for the beautiful soul that he is. 

He is survived by his father Salvatore Iacono, mother Maria Iacono, brothers Lucas, Marco, and Diego, sisters Ximena, Mariela, Bianca, and his beloved nieces and nephews. Matias was preceded in death by his grandmother Marite Tribino.

Memorial services to honor Matias will be held at John J. Fox Funeral Home in Larchmont, NY, on Monday, April 15th, from 5:00 - 9:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) or Burke Rehabilitation Center for brain injuries.
