Obituary of Umberto C. Paolucci
Umberto C. Paolucci (Bert), age 93, of Larchmont, NY, passed away on January 21, 2024.
Bert, the youngest of nine siblings, was born in Ardsley, NY to Umberto Paolucci and Josephine
(DeSimone) Paolucci, on October 14, 1930. He attended Ardsley, NY public schools, graduating in 1948. He went on to earn a BA at Columbia College and an MBA at Harvard Business School. During the Korean war, he served in the Navy as a Lieutenant aboard several aircraft carriers in the Mediterranean, visiting his father’s ancestral home in Italy on one of his cruises.
On his return to civilian life, Bert worked for Time Inc. as a business manager for the Production Department. He left to start his own consulting firm, B. Paolucci Inc. and worked with clients that included CBS Publications, ABC Magazines, Children’s Television Workshop, Corporation for Public Broadcasting, and others.
Bert enjoyed tennis, sailing, Larchmont’s Manor Beach, and books. He is survived by daughter Anne Marie Paolucci, son John Paolucci and his wife Ana Celia Bites, as well as numerous nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Bridget Paolucci.
Bert possessed many qualities including tremendous kindness, patience, curiosity, athleticism, and an entrepreneurial spirit. Known for his dedication to family, he proved it constantly, including being a top-notch caregiver for three generations of cancer patients. He was especially well known for having a wonderful sense of humor.
Visitation will be held at John J. Fox Funeral Home in Larchmont, NY on Thursday January 25, 2024 from 2-4 PM and from 7-9 PM. The funeral will be held at St. Augustine’s Church in Larchmont on Friday January 26, 2024 at 12 noon with a burial at Mount Hope Cemetery to follow.
Memorial donations may be made to Chemo Comfort Inc. at 81 Bedford St. (Suite 1A), New York, NY 10014. Bert was a founding board member of the organization.
The family celebrates the knowledge that he is reunited with his beloved Bridget, as well as his eight brothers and sisters. Bert was the guitar player in the “Paolucci Band” so they will be rocking a comeback tour in heaven.
