Obituary of Millicent Lapkin

Here is the obituary of my mom-

Millicent Lapkin, 89, of Larchmont, NY passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on Tuesday, August 29, 2023.

Micki, as she liked to be called, was born on April 20,1934 to Abraham and Sophie Teitlebaum. Raised primarily in Flushing, Queens, Millicent graduated high school where she was Salutatorian of her class. She then went on to attend and graduate from Queens College at City University.  Upon graduation she was admitted into the Phi Beta Kappa Society. In 1955 she married the love of her life, Benjamin Lapkin.  Micki started her career in elementary education and then became a book reviewer for Kirkus Reviews Publishing. After moving from Manhattan to Larchmont, Micki became a devoted stay-at-home mom when she had her two daughters, Amy and Joanna. She then returned to school and got her LICSW from the University of the State of New York, and then completed her training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy.  The career she had as a psychotherapist became her most gratifying and of which she was most proud.

She is survived by her husband, Benjamin Lapkin; her children, Amy Frank (Jimmy) and Joanna Ravina (Bernard); her grandchildren Joey, Amanda, Sam, Sophie and Leo. She is predeceased by her granddaughter, Jamie Alexa.

She will be remembered as a wife, mother, and grandmother who showed affection and exuberance for her life and her family.

Her funeral service will be Sunday September 3, 2023 at 11:30 am at John J. Fox Funeral Home, Inc. 2080 Boston Post Road Larchmont, NY 10538. Interment will follow at Mt. Eden Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY.
