Obituary of Laurie Kohn Parkinson

Laurie K. Parkinson of Larchmont, New York, passed away at age 59 on March 11, 2023.  The cause was complications from a stroke.  Laurie was born to A. Eugene Kohn and Barbara Kohn Welsh on May 10, 1963 in Philadelphia, PA.  She grew up in White Plains, NY and graduated from Ithaca College.

Laurie was vibrant and shone a bright light in the lives of all who knew her. Her beaming smile and positive energy lit up every room. She had an incredible zest for life and lived it to the fullest. She was a role model to her four sons and was an icon in her community; she could not walk down the street without being stopped by someone who knew and loved her. Her passion for fitness and training, dancing and music led her to open L Train, the fitness studio Laurie launched in Larchmont 17 years ago.

Laurie couldn’t have been any prouder of the young men her boys have become, from the time she supported all four on the football field to their current careers and college achievements.   Laurie is survived by her four sons: Will, Alex, Charlie and Matt;  her partner of five years, Kevin Haley; her mother Barbara Welsh and her brothers, Brian Kohn and Steve Kohn.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday March 14 at 10:00 AM at the Larchmont Temple 75 Larchmont Ave. Larchmont, NY 10538.
