I did not know Fr Gus personally but felt a strong connection to him through Salesian ministry. I felt attached to his kind and loving soul through the correspondence I received and was shocked and deeply saddened by the announcement of his passing. Wow he certainly was a good and faithful servant and must now have a great mansion in Heaven!
Today I received a beautiful hard back book by mail from the Salesian collection which I never ordered and I felt like Father Gus was reaching out as he has been on my mind and heart! God bless the ministry!

Father “Gus” Baek was very devoted in serving the Lord. As a Korean-American priest, he had a close relationship with our family. He was always available to help us in any situation and was an important part of many family events. We greatly appreciate his concern that everyone grow in faith, especially youth and young adults. Our children were blessed by their involvement in retreats that he helped to direct. I remember him giving a very powerful and touching sermon at a Holy Spirit retreat. He will be remembered for his deep faith and self-sacrificing love for the Lord and people. He will be greatly missed. I’m sure that he has heard the Lord say, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” (Matthew 25:21a)
We would like to tell Father Baek “Jesus loves you and so do we!” ❤️

I have known Father Gus for many years and still remember the first day I met him in middle school. He had the kindest and most loving soul. I feel blessed and honored that he was able to lead my wedding ceremony this past year.

Fr. Gus was a special human who had a unique ability to connect with the youth. He was so loving and gentle, his heart so pure. He was like an uncle to me and I will miss having him around. Rest in peace, Fr. Gus. Until we meet again…

I was deeply saddened to hear of Father Gus‘s passing - it’s so sad to say goodbye. But as my mama would always say “it’s never goodbye it is bye-bye for now.”
May the comfort of God help you all during this difficult time- may your memories give you strength.

Was able to celebrate mass with Fr. Gus in April of 2022.
Met him as Br. Gus at Camp Don Bosco in Newton, NJ and he would always stay with us in NYC for a few weeks when he was on break. Celebrated wirh him at his ordination in Ohio. I was glad he was able to meet my 2 sons and talk about some good memories of my youth.
