Obituary of Arnold Irvin Turtz
Arnold Irvin Turtz, born July 28, 1926, died on December 30, 2021 at the age of 95. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Dossie Turtz, his children Beth (Ed), John (Mary) and Lisa (Jesse) and his grandchildren Charlie, Zoe (James), Brad (Alex), Rose and Amy, and his great grandchildren Miles and Caia. He graduated from New York Medical College in 1948, after which he served in the Air Force in Texas, where he also completed his residency training. He then joined his father’s practice in Manhattan. He became a world-renowned ophthalmologist. He was proud of having trained and mentored hundreds of young ophthalmologists. He served as President of the Board of Manhattan Eye and Ear. He was a lover of the outdoors and a fisherman since childhood and enjoyed many fishing vacations to exotic places with his wife and fishing buddy, Dossie. He was a loving father to his 3 children and a devoted grandfather to all of his grandchildren. He was a special human being who will be greatly missed by family and friends.
