Obituary of Robert M. Leopold
Robert M. Leopold died August 13, 2021 at the age of 95. Born in Brooklyn to Sally (Altman) and Max, he lived briefly in Miami, Florida and New York City, was a long-time resident of Larchmont, and most recently, of The Osborn in Rye, NY.
A graduate of Brooklyn Polytechnic H.S., he earned a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology, and did graduate work at the University of Pennsylvania and New York University.
His professional life included work as an electrical engineer with RCA, as a V.P. at L. Luria & Son silver house in NYC, and investment banking at New York Hanseatic Corporation. A partner at Stuart Brothers, he also served in various executive and chair positions at Richford Industries, n Business Machines, Insituform North America, Standard Security Life Insurance CO. and International Asset Management Group. He continued working into his 80s as President of Huguenot Associates, Inc., located in Larchmont.
An avid tennis player, photographer, bird watcher, and book lover; a Sunday Times crossword puzzle solver; long-time editor of Renée’s poetry, and an active and long-time member of the Beach Point Club’s Friday discussion group. His interests were broad, his friendships deep.
He is survived by Renée Luria Leopold, his wife and life partner of 75 (!) years, daughters Sue (Shoshana) and Barbara, granddaughters Elana and Danyel. His eldest daughter Ronni predeceased him.
He enriched the lives of his family, friends and colleagues with his generosity, a sharp intellect (which he would be embarrassed to read in print) and a kind heart. We will miss him and celebrate a life well-lived.
