Dear Mimsi and family:
I am so sorry to hear of Larry’s passing. He was a wonderful attorney and a gentleman in the true sense of the word. I enjoyed getting to know him when he had cases at the Bronx Surrogate’s court where I worked, and at swordfish. My deepest condolences on your loss. Louise Conway

Mr. Bodkin was the absolute best boss I ever worked for! I was his secretary in a law firm near Park Avenue about 40 years ago. And even though it was so long ago, I still always think of him kindly and often. Mr. Bodkin would take me to the Yale Club on Secretary's Day. I made him an embroidery and had it framed for him. I still have the frame displayed that he gave me. A very kind and wonderful employer. My condolences to his family. Hugs, Ellen (Becker) Louie

HI Ellen, this is Anne, Mr. Bodkin's daughter. Thank you so much your post. It is wonderful that you took the time to write it. He was a really good guy and we've been touched to hear from so many people who had such nice things to say about him. He lived a good life. All the best to you and thanks again.

I will always have fond memories of cousin Larry (his mother Mary was my father Robert's sister). Larry was always very pleasant to be around and just a very nice person. What set him apart for me - from everyone else - was the way he would gravitate towards the piano, even in a big crowd. Most people who I have known shy away from playing in front of others
My fondest memory is when my wife Nancy and I travelled to Stony Creek in the early 1990s. We were living in Houston at the time. It was a great visit as Larry and Mimsi organized a party which was very enjoyable to say the least. Larry, being Larry, sat down at the keyboard and started playing "The Yellow Rose of Texas" flawlessly. Simply unforgettable!
May he rest in peace.

I have many fond memories of Larry. His son, Chris, is my close friend and we grew up together spending most of our time playing on Homer Avenue. Larry insisted the front door to the house be unlocked at all times and I should walk in as if it were my home. Thinking back, I can see him sitting on the couch in the living room, smiling as he asked me about my day. I remember him playing the piano and the look of concentration and enjoyment that told me he was doing something he loved. But the memories that ring through as I write this are all the times he made Chris laugh. The two of them had a list of inside jokes and it was clear that he loved Chris, loved the life he had created for himself, and truly appreciated every day. I will miss you, Larry.

The last time I saw Mr. Bodkin was the first time my niece joined me on a weekend jaunt down to Stony Creek to visit with Chris and the family. I met Mr. Bodkin nearly 30 years ago when Chris and I were in college. It was June 2019, and though Mr. Bodkin wasn't very verbal (was he ever?), when my niece sat down to play the piano he listened intently and with pleasure and surprise gave the thumbs up when she finished. It was a joyful moment. Anyway, though he had the driest sense of humor and even I couldnt always tell when he was joking, he was always kind and welcoming and I always enjoyed seeing him. I'm grateful for it.
