Larry was my neighbor for the 12 years I lived on Mohegan Road. He was a lot of fun and I looked forward to his Halloween visits with his children. We loved visiting with him when he was in uniform on some weekends. He looked so handsome walking his dogs that he and Joyce loved so dearly. He helped my husband Joe Maloney, now deceased, save a neighbors dog that was hit by a car. They worked for hours on this wonderful save. He was so welcoming to our family with our three children. He was very kind when my husband died at an early age of cancer. He came into Fox's with tears in his eyes. I will always have wonderful memories of him married to Joyce with two beautiful daughters that I drove with mine to ballroom dancing. If you are a believer in a life here after I know Larry and my Joe Maloney are having a good time telling their chokes together again. My thoughts and prayers go out to all the family of this great guy. Rest in Peace dear Larry.
Your neighbor, Lucy Buckley Maloney-Walsh

One of the rare moments when he asked me to take a picture before our adventures full of stories told by him.

I found this in Dad's "funeral" folder.
I Am Standing Upon The Seashore
By Henry Van Dyke
*************
I am standing upon the seashore. A ship, at my side,
spreads her white sails to the moving breeze and starts
for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength.
I stand and watch her until, at length, she hangs like a speck
of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other.
Then, someone at my side says, "There, she is gone"
Gone where?
Gone from my sight. That is all. She is just as large in mast,
hull and spar as she was when she left my side.
And, she is just as able to bear her load of living freight to her destined port.
Her diminished size is in me -- not in her.
And, just at the moment when someone says, "There, she is gone,"
there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices
ready to take up the glad shout, "Here she comes!"
And that is dying...

I'm so glad we got to see Dad last month, and that he was happy, alert, and funny with L (his granddaughter). It reminded me of how great he was with us when I was little. More stories soon.

During our 24 years of marriage, Larry and I lived in three areas of Larchmont, Lafayette Road, Dundee Road, and Hommocks Road.We had many dear friends. Our social life revolved around Larchmont Yacht Club. We learned to play golf at Winged Foot. For many years we watched fireworks there. Our daughters, Stephanie and Andrea, were the love of our lives. The four of us enjoyed our collies over the years and our three cats. In 1977 we built a house in Gulf Stream, Florida. It was a wonderful experience for the family. We spent many winter vacations and part of summers walking to the beach and tennis courts of The Bath &Tennis Club. Larry liked planning detailed travels. That became a big part of our lives, We visited Lake Louise and other beautiful areas of Canada. Europe,Turkey, Bermuda, Block Island and the Bahamas as well as a Mediterranean cruise. Because Larry was doing financial work on the Orlando Airport, we took many trips to Disney World. When Stephanie was 5, we lost her at a parade. She got on the monorail alone, returned to the Polynesian Village and reported her parents missing.
Larry was a retired Captain in the Navy and will be remembered by his Navy buddies. People in investment banking and municipal bond insurance will not forget. He will be missed by his daughters and his granddaughter, Lucian. We can celebrate his life and remember the good times. Joyce Harvey
