Obituary of Howard McMichael

Howard McMichael Jr. Larchmont – Howard McMichael Jr., 82, of Larchmont, NY peacefully passed away June 2nd, 2020. Born 5/19/38 in New Rochelle, NY to Howard & Jacqueline McMichael. Howard grew up sailing on Long Island Sound. He attended Mamaroneck High School and was an Eagle Scout. After attending Florida Southern College he served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the First U.S. Army Pistol Team. Howard ran his family’s business McMichael Yacht Yards in Mamaroneck for over fifty years. He was also active at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Larchmont where he served on the vestry, sang in the choir and was a junior warden. Howard was very involved with the Villages of Mamaroneck & Larchmont and served on both Coastal Zone Committees for many years. Howard was a member of Larchmont Yacht Club where he volunteered many hours, ultimately serving as Commodore. Howard loved boating, scuba diving, skiing, photography and helping others. It didn’t matter what, he just wanted to join in. Most of all he loved people, especially his family. He is survived by his wife Carolyn, of 56 years, children James McMichael (Kirsten), Heather Conner (Steve) and Catherine DeVore (HL), and seven grandchildren, JB, Jack, and Teddy Conner, Katie, Jackie, Lindsey and Daisy DeVore, also his sisters Joan Kelly and Susie McMichael. His many friends and employees were like family too. A celebration of his life will occur at a later date at St. John’s Church. Memorial contributions can be made to the St. Johns Episcopal Church in Larchmont or Larchmont Friends of the Family.
