Obituary of Janet Katherine Gallagher
Janet Gallagher passed away peacefully, after a brief illness, on Wednesday, May 20 at Phelps Memorial Hospital. She was born in New York, NY on July 26, 1938 to Jack and Helen Nestor. Janet attended The Academy of Mount St. Ursula and Our Lady of Good Council College and was, by all accounts, wicked smart. After settling in White Plains, she became a longtime parishioner of Saint John the Evangelist. As a mother and housewife, she was always the calming influence in the wild west that was the Gallagher household. She loved roller coasters, riding fast on the back of a motorcycle, and a good time with her friends and family. Recently, she really enjoyed the company of her friends at the Briarcliff Manor Apartments. She is survived by her little sister and brother-in-law Kathy and John Yurista, and predeceased by her brother Jackie Nestor. She is also survived by her children John and Lynn Gallagher, Joanne and Thomas Lent, Kevin Gallagher and Maria Sieja, William and Julie Gallagher; her grandkids Kelly, David, Joshua and Vikki, Cody and Carly, Victoria, Thomas and Elle and the great-grandkids June and Jack. Also predeceased is Janet’s daughter-in-law Carolyn Gallagher (Kevin).
No services are planned at this time, but after the current unpleasantness recedes we’ll get together, eat some food, and tell Janet stories.
