The sad news of the passing of our dear friend, Dr. Joseph Tamagna, was deeply felt by the Brothers´ Community of Iona College. His kindness and good humor were trademarks of his lively personality. Each Christmas and Easter, ¨Joe¨ would appear at the door of the Community to leave a large box of candies, cookies or pastries for the Brothers.
Our sympathy to his dear wife, Katherine, and the wonderful Tamagna Family. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Every time I saw Dr. Tamagna he was smiling and quick on his feet with a joke. He always took the time to ask me about how I was doing, tell a couple of great stories to me about his days in dental school or the army, and impart some thoughtful life advice. He truly brought happiness to so many people and the world is a lesser place without him. My sincere condolences to Mrs. Tamagna and family.

Love and Prayers from the entire Judge Family! After my wisdom teeth were pulled the good Dr called to check up on me, and back then you had to go to the phone... Well, he asked, "how I was doing?" I replied Haven't you done enough! Im trying to rest here! - WELL, my Dad (his friend and colleague) did not appreciate my response! But JoeT was quick to respond "I see I didn't remove your sense of humor" ~ To A Life Well Lived! Say Hi to Dad for me! XO

Being a second cousin to Joe and just one year older, it came to mind that we lived first in the Bronx (he on LaFontaine Ave). A good person, then to now. A gentleman, humorous, the first doctor in our extended family. Loved his parents, children, and wife Kathy whom we hope for the best. Ronny De Rubeis

Joe Tamagna was an amazingly kind and sweet man who was completely devoted to his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild as well as to his patients and the Irish Christian Brothers. Kathy and family, please accept my heartfelt condolences. Words cannot convey my great sadness at his passing. The world has lost a great light and model of Christian living. Lisa Bambino and family

Dr. Tamagna, was a wonderful man. He had a sweet way of making you loose all your fears of a procedure he was performing to the point that you were laughing as he worked on you. A very talented and caring man. He will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him as a friend or patient. RIP DR. T.

Joe T. was like a brother to me .Every morning at approximately 8:30 am, we had a conversation regarding worldly issues which eventually turned to humor and a quote from Mel Brooks whom we both admired. He would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it, He was a good mentor and best friend .He was totally devoted to his wife, family and grandchildren. As a professional ,he was accomplished and caring. He was very caring and would bring cookies and cake to the brothers at Iona.He also would go to their wakes ,when one passed.Joe was an amazingly good soul. My wife and I will miss him dearly.

Joe was truly a representative of the Tamagna tradition of devotion to his children and the extended family. Kathy and Joe were a team and their beautiful children and grandchildren will carry on for them. We will miss his sarcastic political humor and patriotic view.

This is Brandon, a long time friend of John Mock, My memory of Mr Joesph was the time he took all of us and took my car rental keys to the dodge caravan and he drove around like a young teenager just a couple of years ago and he told he he had been a dentist for nearly 50 years, he was all smiles and it was incredible to see how great of shape he was in to me. I actually talked about him today of all things even years later and I just found out about his passing 5 minutes ago. Sorry for the loss for everyone, love to all❤️❤️❤️

I will always remember, a week after Joe did some oral surgery on my mouth, removing the stitches at Tracy & Joe's apartment while Joe, Jr. held a lamp near my mouth so he could see what he was doing! I also remember him chasing everyone around trying to give them flu shots! My heart goes out to the Tamagna family!! RIP Joe...you will truly be missed!!
