Obituary of Patricia Harvey Sullivan
Patricia Harvey Sullivan passed away peacefully on July 30 at her home in Larchmont, succumbing to cancer after an on-and-off 26 year battle. Pat, as she was called, grew up in Pelham Manor and graduated from the Ursuline School. She earned a bachelor's degree in English Literature at the College of St. Elizabeth in Convent Station, New Jersey. In her middle-aged years she acquired a Master's in Library Science at Queens College. She is survived by husband Dermod, sons Conor and Griffin, and her brother and sister-in law Frank Harvey and Jean Wilhelm and their son Alex Harvey.
Pat's amicable nature and positive attitude will live on through those that knew her. After her graduation from St. Elizabeth's, Pat spent her next 14 years in Manhattan's Upper East Side, joining the Blue Hill Troupe and making many friendships that stood for the rest of her life. She and Dermod met in 1977 and have never left each other's side since. She rose up the ranks in advertising, eventually becoming an account executive at Benton & Bowles. It was when she had her first son, Conor, that she decided to put her advertising career behind her and focus on nurturing a family.
After Griffin was born, Pat soon returned to school to become a librarian. She became a part-time librarian in a number of towns in Westchester County for almost twenty years. Her leisure time was spent playing with the Winged Foot niners, participating in Larchmont book groups, singing in the Sts. John & Paul choir, and remaining a dedicated bridge player throughout her life. She was especially proud of her one published book, titled Raccoons and Their Relatives.
She carried herself with dignity and style, always looking her best, with an ever-present smile. We will miss her deeply.
A wake will be held at Fox Funeral Home from 2-4PM and 7-9PM on both Sunday and Monday, August 5 and 6. A funeral mass will be held at Church of St. Augustine in Larchmont on Tuesday August 7 at 10:00 AM.
