Obituary of Vincenzo Cortona
It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Vincenzo “Ciccio” Cortona. After a sudden and rapid deterioration of his health in recent months, and despite his best efforts to regain strength and wellness, Vincenzo passed quietly and peacefully in the early morning hours of January 29, 2020, in his home surrounded by his family, much love, and care. His spirit is now joined with that of his beloved Tina and Marco, both of whom he greatly missed. He was 87 years old.
Born in Asti (Piemonte), Italy on August 23, 1932, Vincenzo made a courageous life-changing decision in the early 1970s to relocate his young family from Italy to the United States (Larchmont, NY), with hopes of greater endeavors. We have always been grateful to him for embracing that opportunity and for his constant hard work, which afforded us so many more possibilities and a life filled with blessings. He is survived by his daughter Alessandra “Alex” (Paolo Rossi) of Brewster NY, his daughter Paola (Port Chester, NY), his granddaughter Martina (Brewster, NY), and his grandson Lorenzo (Italy).
He will be remembered as a gentle, jovial, and kind man with an easy-going nature and enormous dedication to his wife and family (extended), and as someone who was always ready to lend a helping hand to those around him anyway he knew how. We are grateful to Paolo, his “favorite” son-in-law for being so devoted to dad, spending countless overnights at his bedside to watch over him. Thank you Silvana, Anna, Barbara, and Janelle for taking such good care of our father when we couldn’t be there.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 31st 4-8pm at Fox Funeral Home (Larchmont, NY). Committal service on Saturday, Feb 1st 1:30pm at Ferncliff Chapel (Hartsdale, NY - Gate 1). In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation on his behalf to charities that support Alzheimer’s research or St. Jude’s Hospital for children.
