Obituary of Marilyn Sarkozi
Marilyn Sarkozi died in her sleep on January 27 at the age of 83. Born in Manhattan, Marilyn studied at the University of Michigan and then NYU, where she received a Masters in Education. She taught high school Spanish for approximately 20 years at John F. Kennedy High School in the Bronx. A resident of Rye Brook for more than 50 years, Marilyn served on the Board of Education for the Blind Brook-Rye Union Free School District.
Marilyn is survived by her husband of 56 years, Laszlo, her son, Paul, and his wife, Jill, of Larchmont, New York, her four grandchildren, Caroline, Sam, William and Joseph, and brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Caren Meyers of Lido, New York. Her daughter, Carrie, passed away in 1994.
A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Marilyn had a joyous spirit, and cared deeply about her friends and extended family. She loved theater, particularly musical theater, going out to eat, meeting new people and travelling to see new places.
Funeral services will be held at Larchmont Temple on Wednesday, January 29, at 10 am. The family will also receive mourners and sit shiva at Larchmont Temple on Wednesday night and Thursday night.
