Obituary of Shirley O'Connor Kenney

Shirley O'Connor Kenney, 89, died Wednesday May 9th at the Sara Neuman Center in Mamaroneck, NY. Shirley was born May 8th, 1923 in Arena, NY to Mr. & Mrs. Francis Ernest (Blanche Beardsley) O'Connor, the eldest of three children; Mrs. Flora Datino of Mamaroneck, NY and Mr. Francis 'Lindy' O'Connor of Cape Cod, Mass. She graduated Bellows HS in Mamaroneck and attended the NY School of Business. Shirley married the late Clinton B. Kenney in 1948 and they lived happily together in New Rochelle, NY for over 42 years. Shirley worked for many years at the Irving Trust Company where she met her future husband. She also worked at Macy's Department Store in New Rochelle in the fine jewelry department. Her interests included loving & caring for her family, Girl Scout Troop 67, Boy Scout Troop 6, camping, bowling, and the outdoors. Shirley was involved for many years at the First Presbyterian Church in New Rochelle. Shirley is survived by three children: Diane Kenney-Lewis of New Rochelle, NY; Richard Kenney & wife Debbi of Valencia, PA; and Debra Kenney of New Rochelle, NY. She is also survived by three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to: Lighthouse Int'l, Development Dept., 111 E. 59th St., NY, NY 10022-1202. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 19th at 9AM at the Mamaroneck United Methodist Church, 546 E. Boston Post Road, Mamaroneck, NY. Burial will follow at the Old Margaretville Cemetery, Margaretville, NY.
