Tony,
I haven’t seen you in 40+ years, but - out of the blue - I thought about you within the last hour, so I looked you up!
I didn’t expect to read of your passing!
I was your center for four seasons of which three were undefeated seasons as Larchmont Saints!
We learned how to play football together! I played through college, but Ralph taught me more than anyone I ever had. We cut our teeth on him!!
We learned audibles together from Ralph, and you and I had our own QB sneak (aka “fanny-burp”) play that you called on from time to time for short yardage!
On your silent signal to me, I snapped the ball and start blocking like a madman. We worked that play pretty well, didn’t we?
Tony, I can’t help but think that you sent me one last “silent signal” tonight.
I enjoyed being your center. In God’s time, I’ll see you again - so please save a seat for me!
Bobby

I am so sad to hear of Tony’s passing. He was my first love/steady (6th grade). He has remained in my heart since then. Loved hanging out with him in high school. So many good times. Loved being around his family. God rest your sweet soul. My thoughts and prayers are with the Schmerge family.

I loved tony for a lot of reasons he was a man who really loved my fiancé And her family. He was also a man who had unbelievable insight. He was kind, generous and an amazing chef.
He never judged me for anything and always made me feel like I was part of the family. When I first started dating my fiancé, he was always a shoulder to lean on and reminded me a lot of my father. I will miss you tony and ur amazing stories and cooking. I know you are in heaven and I will always be saying prayers for you.

Tony was my best friend in grammar school. Though we went our separate ways as adults I always enjoyed seeing him when I returned to Larchmont. I was quite saddened to hear of his death. I will be keeping him and you all in my thoughts and prayers. Michael (Ray) O’Keefe
