Obituary of Lewis M. Cox II

Lewis M. Cox II died peacefully on May 11, 2019 surrounded by his loving children, after a valiant battle with Multiple Myeloma and MDS Leukemia. Lewis was born July 12, 1944 to Maria Lane & Francis Milnor Cox in the Bronx, NY. He graduated from Iona Preparatory School, Fairfield University and obtained his MBA from University of Kansas in 1971.  Lew was an officer in the U.S. Army serving in Europe during the Vietnam War. He raised his family in Larchmont, NY and enjoyed his final years overlooking the Long Island Sound in New Rochelle.

Lew’s early career in the municipal bond market began at Chemical Bank and culminated as a Principal with Alex. Brown & Sons. In the 1990’s he went on to pursue his passion for technology.  Lew retired from The Osborn in Rye, NY in 2012 where he managed the software and hardware needs throughout the facility.  He thoroughly enjoyed helping others. Whether it was serving the parish of St. Augustine or helping a friend, he lived by the Golden Rule: “Do unto others what you would have them do to you”.

Lew did not let the adversities of managing his health define his final years. The happiest times of his life were spent enjoying his five grandchildren: Briona, Juliet, Ella, Liam and James, of whom he was unabashedly proud.  Lew is survived by his daughter, Lisa Collins (Bill) and son, Devin Cox (Sarah), his former spouse Patricia Connor Cox and his siblings, Dolores Agnew (Richard RIP), Ella Bracy (Michael), John Cox (Rita) and his many cousins, nieces and nephews.  Lewis is predeceased by his parents, his sister, Maria Cox Connor (Bernard Connor RIP), and his brother Frank Cox (Mary).

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center at https://giving.mskcc.org/.  Visiting hours will be Wednesday, May 15 from 4:00 PM-8:00 PM at John J. Fox Funeral Home, Inc. 2080 Boston Post Road, Larchmont, NY 10538.  Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday May 16 at 12:15PM at St. Augustine Church in Larchmont.
