Obituary of Francis M. Cox III

Francis Milnor Cox III, died unexpectedly yet peacefully and surrounded by his loving family, in Sarasota Florida, on March 13, 2019. Frank was born in Bronx NY on June 5, 1937 to Francis M. Cox Jr and Maria Lane Cox.  He attended Xavier High School, and Cranwell Preparatory School, and graduated from Georgetown University in 1959.  He subsequently obtained his MBA from NYU. He resided in the Larchmont/Mamaroneck area for 50 years, and worked at Chase Manhattan Bank for 45 years. Frank is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Vandernoot Cox; his children, Mary Ann V. Cox (Sean Quinn), Francis M. Cox IV, Mark V. Cox, Kevin V. Cox (Liza Delic), Paul V. Cox (Katherine Davis) and Laura V. Cox (Rodrigo Tomasi); his grandchildren, Jacob, Judine, Kathleen and Kevin Jr; and his siblings, Dolores Agnew (Richard, RIP), Lewis Cox, Ella Bracy (Michael) and John Cox (Rita). He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Brian V. Cox, and his sister Maria Cox Connor (and her husband Bernard Connor). Frank was a devout parishioner of St. Augustine’s Church.  Throughout his life he enjoyed the beach (Neponsit, Jones, Larchmont Manor and most recently Siesta Key); fishing; tennis and paddle tennis at LYC and Flint Park; Summering in Whitefield, NH; golf; world travel; jogging in local 5k events and he was a loyal Jets fan. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, or to the Society of African Missions, in honor of our dear friend Fr. Ted Hayden (SMAFathers.org) Visiting will be Sunday March 17 from 4:00 Pm until 8:00 PM at John J. Fox Funeral Home, Inc. 2080 Boston Post Road Larchmont, NY 10538. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday March 18 11:00 AM at St. Augustine Church in Larchmont.
