Obituary of Ellen Perley
Harrison, NY - Ellen M. Perley, age 58, a resident of Harrison passed away peacefully on January 13, 2019 after a heroic battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband, Edward P. Perley, Jr, sons Edward P. Perley III (Teddy) & Timothy J. Perley. She was born April 16, 1960 in New Rochelle, New York to Angelo and Marie Mambrino. Ellen grew up in Larchmont, NY with her parents and siblings Kathy (Mambrino) Evans, Carol (Mambrino) Rosato and John Mambrino. She graduated from St Augustine's, Holy Child and Rosemont College. She was a parishioner of Resurrection Church in Rye, NY.
She enjoyed a successful 35 year career as an Executive Recruiter on Wall Street. She had the pleasure of working with some of the finest women in the business. Her first mentors were Susan Teeman and Shelia Smyth of Smyth Teeman. Along the way her name was on the door with her partners at three firms; Teeman Alison Perley, Teeman Perley Giilmartin & Gilmartin Perley. For the last 6-7 years Ellen reconnected with her good friend Alyse Borgersen Dermer at Alyses firm Alyse Borgersen Executive Search /aka AB Search. Ellen's family is forever grateful to her partner Alyse for all the love and support she showed Ellen throughout her fight. Together Ellen and Alyse achieved great things in business. Most importantly they enjoyed helping their clients and had tremendous fun doing it.
When Ellen came home from work there was only one job that mattered and that was the love she had for her sons Teddy & Timmy. From the time her son's were born she embraced a saying she made up, "wish I could but I can't." As much as she loved her friends and family she knew there was only so much time in a day to dedicate to helping her boys become fine young men. She found the perfect opportunity in competitive swimming. When her sons were six years old Ellen officially became a "Swimmer Mom", first introducing her boys to competitive summer swimming as members of Manursing Island Club and Westchester Country Club. Summer swimming transitioned to year round competitive swimming with the Greenwich Dolphins and Empire. She proudly watched her sons develop lasting friendships with their peers and take their abilities to the College level as members of the Colgate and Bucknell Swim Teams.
