Obituary of Alfred Schlosser

Alfred M. Schlosser, a longtime resident of Larchmont, N.Y., passed away on January 1, 2019. He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Jacqueline (Kay) Schlosser; his sons, Andrew (Robbi Boston) of Marshfield, Mass., and Ben (Liz) of Cornelius, N.C.; daughter Elizabeth (Stephen) of New Orleans, La.; and seven grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother Leonard B. Schlosser, and a son-in-law, Albert B. Vanderhoof. Born on September 24, 1930 to Malvina and Fred Schlosser, he was raised in New York, N.Y. and graduated from the Horace Mann School. He graduated from Williams College in 1951 and then earned an M.B.A. in Finance from Columbia University in 1953. Mr. Schlosser served in the U.S. Navy as Ensign on the USS Sperry during the Korean War. Following his naval service, he joined the Schlosser Paper Corp. in New York City. He was former president of Lindenmeyr Paper Corp. and vice president of Zellerbach Paper Co. He had also been active in the National Paper Trade Association and the Paper Merchants Association of New York. Mr. Schlosser was a parishioner at St. John's Church. Following his retirement, he was active in philanthropy with several organizations, including more than 60 years of dedication to his college, culminating in his being awarded the Joseph's Coat Award for his distinguished service to Williams. An avid golfer and longtime member of Century Country Club, he also served as a rules official for the Metropolitan Golf Association. Funeral services will be held at St. John's Episcopal Church, Larchmont, NY on Monday, January 7, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the WGA Caddie Scholarship Fund, 49 Knollwood Road, Elmsford, NY, 10523
