Obituary of Barbara K. Cohen

Barbara Cohen (nee Kimball) age 86, of Mamaroneck, NY, formerly of Rye, NY and Larchmont, NY passed away on Sunday December 23. Barb is survived by her loving children Stephen Paul (wife, Karen), Susan Paul and Christopher Paul (wife, Manjula), her grandchildren Hannah Paul and Hunter Paul, and her sister Elizabeth Dempsey. She is predeceased by her husband Walter Paul and her parents James Brewster Kimball and Leonora Dingee Kimball. She had an independent spirit, and admired people who spoke out and acted against social injustice. For many years, Barb worked to support local and national political figures and had fond memories of her involvement and the vision they worked to attain. She remained very engaged in political news and writings her entire adult life. Barb's interests extended to a variety of outspoken artists as well, especially relishing the raw talent and messages of authors, actors and a wide range of musicians. She raised her children with lively and progressive music and in turn loved the music her children brought into the house as they grew up. She also loved professional baseball, tennis and basketball and had a love of opera. Barb's greatest joy came from being with her grandchildren and watching them grow to caring young adults. A memorial luncheon will be held at her son Stephen's home at 46 Wood Hollow Lane in New Rochelle. Visitors are welcome to join at any time on Sunday January 6, between 12:00 to 4:00 pm.
