Obituary of Evelyn Fitzgibbons

Evelyn Maura Fitzgibbons, 81, passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Crossings of Falls Run, Fredericksburg, Virginia in the early hours of Sunday, October 28, 2018. The eldest of eight children, Evelyn was born in County Monaghan, Ireland on July 14, 1937 to Francis and Rose (Connolly) McKenna. In 1957 Evelyn immigrated to the United States and lived in New York where she met her future husband, John Fitzgibbons. She married John on June 18, 1960. Evelyn lived in Mamaroneck, New York where she raised a family and worked as a waitress at several local restaurants. Best remembered for her charming Irish brogue, she truly enjoyed the company of her patrons and her waitress friends who became like family to her. John and Evelyn moved to New Port Richey, Florida in 1997 where she remained until 2013. Evelyn is survived by her four children; Maura Jensen, Brian Fitzgibbons (Colleen), Kathryn MacMannis (Andrew), and Kevin Fitzgibbons (Linda); her grandchildren Gilbert Jensen (Laura), Katherine Jensen, Katy Fitzgibbons, Joseph Fitzgibbons, Jack MacMannis, Kelly Fitzgibbons, Michael Fitzgibbons, Sean Fitzgibbons, and Kristen Fitzgibbons; great-grandchildren Kenneth and Emily Jensen; siblings Angela Mulcahy, Frank McKenna, Hugh McKenna, and Nuala O'Meara; and numerous nieces and nephews. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband John, her brothers Michael and Patrick, grandsons Conor and Aiden and her son-in-law, Kenneth Jensen. Family and friends will gather at Fox Funeral Home in Larchmont, New York, on November 14, 2018 from 2:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. and 7:00p.m.-9:00 p.m. to say farewell to a warm, loving mother, sister, and friend. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on November 15, 2018 at 12:00 a.m. at Saint Augustine Catholic Church, in Larchmont, N.Y.
