Obituary of Joan Bridget Godfrey

Joan Godfrey a life long resident of New Rochelle, NY, passed away on July 1, 2018 at Calvary Hospital. One of four children, Joan was born and raised by her parents the late John and Betty DiBuono. Joan is survived by her beloved son A.J., his wife Joie and her adoring grandsons A.J. and Joey in addition to several loving nieces, nephews and friends. Joan married Arthur Godfrey, a New Rochelle Police Officer on December 12, 1972 and they made their home on Pershing Avenue. Joan aka "Mrs. Godfrey" was the owner and director of The Pre-School Learning Center and After School Center on Eastchester Road in New Rochelle for over 38 years. Her school was her passion. Joan's early childhood educational philosophy and motto "The 3L's- Love, Laughter and Learning" has benefited thousands of children in the community. Joan was a life long parishioner of Holy Family Church, a long time member of the Wykagyl Country Club and the Davenport Beach Club. Joan is predeceased by her husband Arthur in 1988, and her siblings, Joe DiBuono, Rosemary Vandenberg and Ellen Therese DiBuono. Friends and family may call on Thursday, July 5, 2018 from 3:00 to 8:00 PM at John J. Fox Funeral Home, 2080 Boston Post Road, Larchmont, NY. Joan's funeral mass celebration will be held on Friday, July 6, 2018 at 10:30 AM at Holy Family Church, 83 Clove Road, New Rochelle, NY. Interment immediately following at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in New Rochelle, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Joan's name to Cavalry Hospital, 1750 Eastchester Road, Bronx, NY 10461.
