Obituary of Jacqueline Bellsey Starr

Jacqueline Bellsey Starr of Rye passed away peacefully on March 8, 2018. Jacquie was born on November 1, 1925, in Brooklyn, New York, to Joseph and Esther Kurzon, and was the youngest of three sisters. She attended public high school, graduated at the age of 15, and went on to attend Adelphi University from which she graduated at the age of 19. Thereafter, she was accepted at the Colombia Law School, one of five women in a class of 100. She was forced to discontinue her studies when her husband's work required that they move from New York. After raising three sons, she embarked on a 30 year career at IBM, culminating in her position as Director of Product Management for Printers and Storage IBM/Europe, Middle East and Africa. Upon retirement, she was elected as the first woman President of Fairview Country Club in Greenwich, Connecticut, and served three terms. She was active in many charities, including Mt. Sinai Hospital and the Westchester Pleasantville League for which she served as President. After the death of her husband, Ira, she married Lee Starr with whom she spent a joyous 10 years. She was loved by all who knew her, and will be missed by her devoted family and myriad of friends. She is survived by her loving husband Lee, her devoted son Jonathan and his wife Cynthia, her loving Granddaughters, Tasha (Son-in-law Tony), Justyn (Son-in-law Eli), Erin and her great granddaughters Elan and Ellen. Her Daughter-in-law Lisa, step sons Jonathan and Fredrick and Granddaughter Hazel. Funeral services are private.
