Obituary of Anne Skudder

Anne Kuehn Skudder a longtime resident of White Plains passed away Wednesday February 21, 2018 at the age of 99. Anne was born in New Rochelle 11 July1918 and lived on Stevenson Blvd with her parents and her younger sister Alice. Anne was close to both her parents, her father was a well know mortician in New Rochelle and her mother was a wonderful cook and homemaker. Anne was an accomplished pianist and her sister became a professional violinist. They performed duets at community functions and were great friends their whole life. Anne was a graduate of New Rochelle High School and was justifiably proud of her typing ability which she noted was both speedy and accurate. She worked in a bank and then married Tony Skudder who was born in Britain and served in the US Coast Guard during WWII. They relocated to White Plains and were happily married for over 60 years enjoying the view of their gardens from the glass enclosed porch. Anne painted murals in her dining room which are still lovely and admired by her visitors. She kept the books for her husband's business. They both enjoyed home improvements, gardening, entertaining and training the German Shepherds they took home as puppies. They spent leisure time in Florida and taking cruises. Ann was very social and humorous and kept in touch with many of her high school classmates over the years. At the age of 99 she would note she had outlived most of her friends and family. She was very independent and lived alone with minimal assistance until 3 months before her death. She is survived by her brother in law's children Paul A. Skudder, Jr., Christopher Skudder, Megan Skudder Brown, Eileen Skudder Bravmann and Elizabeth Skudder. She is also survived by 12 great nieces and nephews. Visiting Monday February 26th, from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM at John J. Fox Funeral Home, Inc. 2080 Boston Post Road Larchmont, NY 10538. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for her on Monday at 10:30 AM at Holy Name of Jesus Church in New Rochelle. Interment will follow at Beechwood Cemetery in New Rochelle.
