I have known the Cursio's for over 25 years and have celebrated many occasions with the family. I have always been fond of Louise and always felt warmly welcomed in her home. She was a strong woman and rarely held back expressing her views. I'm glad to be a close friend to Andrew given that it translated to a warm place in Louise's heart (the waiter at the Italian restaurant who screwed up after taking our ten person order without writing it down was not equally ingratiated to Louise).
One fond memory involves a meal at her Lincoln Towers apartment in 1983. I have shared the story frequently over the past two decades and coincidentally shared it a week before Louise's passing. Andrew's college friends were invited to Louise for dinner. We sat down to a huge plate of spaghetti and meatballs for the three of us - Jian, Andrew and I. There was enough to feed an army and I was ready to fall asleep on the couch convinced that we had just finished dinner. That's when Louise broke out the Braciole. I had no more room but once I tasted it, I had no choice but to force feed what was on my plate. Then just as food comma settled in, Louise broke out the roast !!
Andrew, Liz, their spouses and children should be proud of the care given to Louise especially over the past couple of years. You are the most selfless people I know, saints for sure.
I will miss Louise and her Braciole!
