Obituary of Kathryn Lynette Shaffren

Kathryn Shaffren born September 22, 1951 passed away on January 30, 2018. A cherished mother, Kathy leaves behind her 2 daughters Allison Shaffren and Rebecca Wenz, grandson Strummer Wenz, son in law Douglas Wenz and her brother Ken Ediger. She left us peacefully Tuesday morning from Harlem Hospital, after suffering a stroke on the Thursday prior. Kathy lived a good and honest life, devoted to her daughters who adored her. Raised in a Mennonite home by her parents Sol and Lavina Ediger in rural Kansas. Kathy left the farm for NYC at 19 years old. She gave over 30 years of dedicated service to the United States Post Office. She enjoyed 3 years of retirement and spent her last year sharing a home with her grandson, watching him flourish and grow. She loved to laugh and share, traveling and seeing new sights, absorbing whatever life had to offer. Kathy was bright, fun loving, generous and caring. She will be deeply mourned and eternally missed. Services will be held at 4:00pm this Saturday, February 3rd at the John J Fox Funeral Home, 2080 Boston Post Road, Larchmont, NY 10538.
