Obituary of Joan Greeman

GREEMAN, Tamara (Joan), aged 84, surrounded by her sons, David, Tim, and Dan. Wife of the late Peter A. Greeman for 53 years, faithful unto death, is survived by her three sons Dan, Tim (wife Paulene), David (wife Amy), four grandchildren (Rachel, Jonathan, Ben, and Sam), her niece Jenny Rebecca, and Jenny Rebecca's parents, Richard and Julie. For the past 10 years, Tammy was the proud owner of Andersons Book Shop in downtown Larchmont. For over 30 years she was a docent at, and a member of the Board of the Friends of the Neuberger Museum. A tireless worker, she ran Nothing New Antiques with her true sister Annabelle. Tammy also independently ran a business called the small wall, which specialized in doll house furniture, paintings, and rugs homemade often by her own hand. Tammy built and furnished over a dozen period and thematic Doll Houses with miniatures, art, and rugs made by her and Pete. They will be exhibited at the Wenham Museum in Massachusetts. Tammy's doll houses were featured in the New York Times and she often wrote articles for the "Miniature Collection Magazine". A 1953 Graduate of Smith College, Tammy was one of the most artistic and creative people I have ever known. She would sketch and design her own pictures for quilting squares to create the most wonderful nursery-rhyme quilts for her grandchildren and other close friends' children. For years she met with her quilting and knitting groups, working on projects which were donated to hospitals. I remember watching her paint replicas in miniature of some of the great masters; Rembrandt, Reubens, Picasso, Van Gogh, and Americans Hartley, Hopper, Avery. Tammy mentioned that her ideal job would have been restoring frescoes in Italy. Her creativity knew no bounds; Tammy always had a project she was working on that channeled her artistic energy. Tammy NEVER took a day off. If anyone has earned an afterlife, it is Tammy as I'm sure you well know. She's with those master artists restoring frescoes in the sky.
