Obituary of Marjorie S. Isaac
Marjorie Isaac,6/26/21-date .
Born in New York on June 26, 1921 to Jerome and Evelyn (Gomprecht) Schloss, Marjorie attended Horace Mann School for Girls ; and studied dance as an early member of George Balanchine's Ballet Caravan. She danced at the Ford Motor Pavilion at the 1940 World's Fair,in the Corps de Ballet at Radio City and in several Broadway shows (Rosalinda , Viva 1O'Brien and Song of Norway) in the 1940s.
On April 14, 1946 she married Irving Isaac. who predeceased her in 1984 . Devoted to the arts , Marjorie was involved with a variety of dance-related organizations including the Dance Notation Bureau, Dance Library of Israel and the Paul Taylor Dance Company while supporting many others. She was also a long-time and devoted member of the Hudson River Museum Board , an active traveler with friends and family, and in later life a talented water-colorist.
After nearly half a century in Eastchester/Bronxville NY , Marjorie's final years were at Westchester Meadows in Valhalla, NY .
Marjorie is survived by her sons: Fred (Robin) of Berkeley ,California ; Paul (Karen) of Larchmont , New York and Daniel (Debi) of Sarasota , Florida as well as grandchildren: Benjamin (Christine), Abigail, Johanna and Samuel, her niece Stephanie Scott and nephews Edwin Schloss and Alan and Ricky Braunshweiger; their children and grandchildren, and numerous friends, stretching from her Horace Mann days to new ones from Westchester Meadows.
She will be remembered by all who knew her as warm, gracious and the personification of courtesy and dignity.
A funeral service will be held Friday 10:00 AM at John J. Fox Funeral Home 2080 Boston Post Road in Larchmont, NY 10538. Interment to follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Hastings-on-Hudson, NY.
