Obituary of Kevin G. Fitzgerald

Kevin Gerard Fitzgerald, Esq. died unexpectedly on Feb. 18 at the age of 53. Kevin was born in Brooklyn, NY on Sept. 27, 1963 to Ethel Cunningham Fitzgerald and Patrick J. Fitzgerald. He graduated from Fordham College in 1985 with a B.A. in Political Science and went on to Fordham Law School from which he graduated in 1988. Kevin maintained a strong relationship with the Jesuits at Fordham throughout his life. He practiced law at Mendes & Mount in New York from 1988-2000, followed by a career as a small business owner in Brooklyn. Kevin was married to Elizabeth Teasdale Fitzgerald for nearly 25 years and was the proud father of Meaghan (23), Hannah (21), Grace (18) and Owen (15). His greatest joy came from watching his children grow and experiencing their achievements in the classroom, on the athletic field and in the community. In addition to his wife and children, Kevin is survived by four sisters and their spouses: Lynne (Charlie) O'Donnell, Patricia (George) Scanlon, Joan (Gary) Thompson and Karen (Brian) Potter; as well as 12 nieces and nephews and their spouses. He is predeceased by his parents. A wake will be held at John J. Fox Funeral Home in Larchmont on Friday, Feb. 24; 2pm-4pm and 7pm-9pm. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Augustine Church on Saturday, Feb. 25 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, Kevin would be honored to have donations sent to the Fordham University Rugby Club where he was an active member and lifelong fan; or to Fordham Prep, for the benefit of Habitat for Humanity in Tennessee, where Owen will participate in building a home this summer.
