Born in 1926 in New York City - February 16, 2017 Valhalla, NY
Graduated from A.B. Davis HS 1943
Graduated from the University of Rochester 1946
Graduated Georgetown University School of Dentistry 1949
Served in the Naval Dental Corp as a Lieutenant JG
Was a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry
Opened his own dental practice at 905 Palmer Ave, next to Walters, where he practiced from 1954 until his retirement in 1995
In 1955 he married his sweetheart Muriel Roth; they raised two children: Sharon wife of Ron Berman and David husband of Deborah Hertz. He has 3 grandchildren Kate and Marjorie Berman and Caleb Levitt
Leigh was
Past President of B'nai Brith District 1, He also received the B'nai Brith Award for service and devotion to principles of B'nai Brith
Past President of Westchester Shore Dental Forum
Past President of 9th District Dental Society
Past President of Larchmont Temple Brotherhood as well as past editor of the Temple News, Temple webmaster and photographer. He was a challah baker extraordinaire, often making Challahs for the temple bazaar. He and his wife have been members since 1965 and in 2013 at the Minyan of Mensches they received the Congregational Certificate of Volunteer recognition" for bringing honor to our people, pride to our congregation, and compassion to our world"
A member of the Old Guard of Westchester and in 2010 was named Man of The Year
An avid gardener and member of the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Westchester and former webmaster
A leader of Boy Scout Troop 5 of Mamaroneck, Committee member and Advancement Chairman of the Algonquin District of Westchester/Putnam Council of Boy Scouts of America.
Enjoyed fishing, bowling and most of all making things. He made many wooden toys for his children and grandchildren over the years and beautiful gold jewelry pieces for the women in his family.
In his free time is also volunteered for Meals on Wheels
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Planned Parenthood, Larchmont Temple Social Action Committee or Doctors Without Borders
A Funeral Service will be held Friday February 17, 2017 at 12:00 PM at Larchmont Temple 75 Larchmont Ave. Larchmont, NY 10538.
Interment will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery 50 Jackson Ave. Hastings-on-Hudson, NY.
