My deepest condolence, and sincere thoughts and prayers are with Dot's family and close friends. Dot will be greatly missed. She will always be remembered as a vibrant, kind, loving, gentle and thoughtful person. I had the honor of knowing Dot while working at the DOE. She was and is unlike any other. High spirited, sweet and always looking to help. We will miss her dearly, and we are thankful for the life she lived and the example she has set before us. Rest in peace Dot, we love you.

Hi,
My name is Paula Gilder. I am relatively new to the DOE and Dot was one of the first people I met. From the day I met her, she was friendly, kind and helpful. I was so happy to meet her a few summers ago at a summer continuing education course. I thought I would not know a sole, but Dot saw me in the crowd. We ate lunch together by the poolside and I got to know her a little better. She told me a little about her family, how she was proud of her daughter and son, and gave me hope that my son might be going through hard times, but that things would work out. She had a lot of experience since she had gone through the teenage years already and was very reassureing. She was so proud of her family and enjoyed her relationship with them. Last year, she came in to my school as a SIT and personally guided me. Believe it or not, I can still hear her voice and guidance in my head. She was a source of guidance and inspiration. I could not believe that she had passed. I saw her just a few weeks ago and it is all so sad. I wish you, her family comfort and to know she was in a class all her own. She will be remembered and truly missed.
Sincerely,
Paula

I want to send my deepest sympathy and condolences to all of Dot's family and friends at this very difficult time. I had the honor of calling Dot one of my colleagues, who although we did not have many encounters, she always had this upbeat radiance about her that could light up a room. She will be missed.

Dot was a quiet and compassionate lady. I can say without hesitation that she was capable of only kind words. If Dot had a nickle she would give you a dime. My deepest condolences to her husband, children, close friends and family. It is not surprise that she chose to be an Occupational Therapist and her daughter followed in her loving foot steps. My first thought when I learned of her passing is that we should all strive to be a little more like Dorothy LaRussa! Kind of heart, Kind of soul and Kind in spirit. Dot will not be forgotten.

My deepest condolences to the entire family. When I think of Dot I just smile, she was such a caring and loving person. When I first started my career as an OT , she came and sat with me for hours at my first school just helping me get adjusted. I must have asked a million questions, and for every question that she did not have an answer for she was sure to make certain that she followed up with me. A woman of her word! She has touched so many peoples lives with her gracefulness and loving heart.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for being such an inspiration in my first years in the DOE. You are remembered for having a bright spirit, creative mind, caring heart, and always bringing words of encouragement. Your dedication as a mentor was above and beyond. I will absolutely never forget you. I considered you an OT "mom" as you did not only share your tips and tricks and guide me along the way, but also had so much compassion. You are missed.
I wish peace for your family during this difficult time.

Sending you my deepest sympathies. I am feeling so grateful today to have Dot in the happiest memories of times with my children. Dot was consistently the kindest and most upbeat lady. What a wonderful influence for your family and those of us who shared in friendships with the LaRussa family. Phil, Sam and Caitlin, you are in my thoughts and prayers. Know that Andy, Annalise and I are so saddened but feeling oh-so-lucky to have shared in Dot's warmth and wonder. Diana
