Obituary of Charles J. Green

Charles J. Green, of Larchmont and New Rochelle, passed away on October 7, 2016 at the age of 82. He was born in New Rochelle on July 7, 1934 to John and Margaret Green. He graduated from Stepinac High School in 1952 and married Ruth Grube of Larchmont, in 1955. He referred to her as "The Love of My Life" and they were married for 61 years. Charles joined the New Rochelle Police department in 1956. He received the top Westchester County Macy Award for capturing an armed suspect following a shooting, in 1960. He was promoted to sergeant in 1970 and played an active role in the Police Association and Superior Officers Association . He retired in 1979 and was the Assistant Director of Security at Iona College for thirteen years. Charles is survived by his wife Ruth, and his three daughters who he loved dearly, Cathy Levy(Seth), Betsy Nunez(Alberto), and Nancy Barbero(Mark). He was the loving grandfather of Patrick Nunez, Matthew and Katie Barbero, and Sarah and Michael Levy. His sister, Kay Porricolo, also survives him. Visiting Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at John J. Fox Funeral Home in Larchmont. Mass Wednesday 10 AM at St. Augustine Church in Larchmont. Interment at Beechwood Cemetery in New Rochelle. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to Calvary Hospital Hospice, Bronx, New York.
