Obituary of Robert D. Whoriskey

Robert D. Whoriskey, longtime resident of Larchmont, NY, passed away July 2nd following a brief illness. He was 87. Born on May 9, 1929 to John J. Whoriskey, M.D. and Katherine MacDonald Whoriskey in Boston, Bob graduated from the Belmont Hill School, Harvard College, and Boston College Law School. Bob served in the US Army during the Korean War. He worked as a trial attorney for the IRS before joining the firm of Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle in New York, where he was a Senior Partner. He was a President of the International Tax Institute and a Board Member of the Life Insurance Company of Boston and NY. Bob married his beloved wife, the former Martha Poutas, in New York City in 1966. Martha predeceased him, as did his four siblings: John Whoriskey, M.D.; Frederick Whoriskey, M.D.; Frances Whoriskey, and Kathleen Sullivan. He is survived by his adoring children: Alexandra Whoriskey Love, M.D. (Jim), of Mamaroneck, NY; Robert Jonathan Whoriskey (Deanna), of Coral Springs, FL; and Eliza Whoriskey O'Neill (Colin), of New Rochelle, NY; as well as six grandchildren: Emily and Meghan Love, Shawn and Rebecca Whoriskey, and Tate and Clara O'Neill. Bob is also survived by Joan Whoriskey, of Newton, MA; Margaret Poutasse of Lenox, MA; Mary Ellen and Sal Caruso of Lyme, CT; Mimi and John Kepner of Gwynedd Valley, PA; and many nieces and nephews. He will be remembered for his gentle nature, charm, intellect, devotion to his family, and genuine love of life. Visiting Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 at Fox Funeral Home. Funeral Mass Thursday, July 7 at 10AM at St. Augustine's Church, Larchmont. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery, Greenwich, CT.
