Obituary of Reginald Hiroshi Imamura

Reginald H. (Reggie) Imamura, 50, of Larchmont, NY, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on Monday, February 29, 2016. Reggie was employed in the financial services and banking industry, most recently with PNC Financial. After graduating from The University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill, he started his career in the training program at First Union National Bank in Charlotte, NC and rose to the position of Managing Director in the Capital Markets Group of First Union Securities. After First Union, Reggie started his own firm, I3 Capital Partners, LLC. I3 was acquired by PNC Financial, where he became Executive Vice President in the Financial Services Advisory and Banking Group until his illness. Reggie was also a driving force in establishing and founding the Structured Finance Industry Group - SFIG, and served as its first Chairman. He formed this organization to guarantee integrity and ethical standards in an industry that had seen a great many irregularities. Reggie was born and raised in Winston-Salem, NC. He spent his formative years at Choate Rosemary Hall where he took its motto "Fidelitas et Integritas" to heart. Those words became the founding principle of his life. Anyone who knew Reggie knew he was honest to a fault, with unimpeachable integrity and exceptional kindness. Reggie was an avid sportsman - he loved skiing with his wife and daughters, sailing his J70 in competitions and regattas across the Eastern Seaboard, and he bled Carolina blue for his Tarheels. He played soccer and lacrosse in high school and always cheered for his alma maters. Reggie is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Lisa, and daughters Natalie and Sophie of Larchmont, NY. He is also survived by his mother Kikuko Imamura, of Winston Salem, NC, and his brother Anthony and brother-in-law, Bryan Slater, of Washington, DC. Reggie was predeceased by his father, Dr. Hideki Samuel Imamura. In many ways, the greatest legacy Reggie leaves is his love for his wife and family. He was a devoted family man, above all else. Although Reggie left us too soon, he lived life to the fullest. One his favorite movies was "Ferris Bueller's Day Off." Ferris's final words in the film are "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it." Reggie didn't miss it. A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2016, at 10:30 a.m., at St. John's Episcopal John's Church, 4 Fountain Square, Larchmont, NY. A reception and gathering of friends will take place immediately following the service at the Larchmont Yacht Club, 1 Woodbine Ave, Larchmont, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Pancreatic Cancer Foundation at pancan.org
